Vancouver Police Department identified the suspect in the deadly car crash incident at the city's Filipino community's Lapu Lapu Festival as 30-year-old Kai-Ji Adam Lo. Kai-Ji Adam Lo allegedly plowed a vehicle through a crowd at the festival in Southeast Vancouver, leading to the death of 11 people. The police had earlier said that the suspect was known to them and has had a history of mental illness.
However, the identity of the suspect had been withheld till charges were pressed against the suspect. Later, the Vancouver Police Department issued a statement confirming that the suspect had been charged with eight counts of second-degree murder. Kai-Ji Adam Lo is a Vancouver resident and lost his brother, Alexander Lo, in January 2024.
"The BC Prosecution Service has now charged Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, with eight counts of second-degree murder," Vancouver Police Department said in the statement. "Lo, a Vancouver resident, has appeared in court and remains in custody. The charge assessment is ongoing and further charges are anticipated.
