Whitesboro girls win New Hartford cross country invitational

NEW HARTFORD — Whitesboro took the top spot in the girls race and was second in the boys race at the New Hartford cross country invitational on Saturday.

NEW HARTFORD — Whitesboro took the top spot in the girls race and was second in the boys race at the New Hartford cross country invitational on Saturday. In the girls race, the Warriors edged out Clinton by two points with a winning score of 55. The host Spartans were third (77), Thomas R.

Proctor High of Utica fourth (92), Rome Free Academy fifth (135), New York Mills sixth (165), Hamilton seventh (182), Utica-Notre Dame eighth (184) and Canastota ninth (230). Unadilla Valley’s Andrea Favinger won the 5K in 20:11.7.



Clinton’s Natalie Heselton was second in 20:30.8. The rest of the top 10 was: Arianna Piazza of New York Mills, New Hartford’s Alexandria French, Whitesboro teammates Lana Moore and Evangeline Gwilt, Proctor’s Keelyn Simpson, Elizabeth Friot of Whitesboro, Dolgeville’s Celine Juchheim and Clinton Wynnyn Davignon.

Oneonta’s Colin Fletcher-Foster won the boys race in 15:49. Teammates Keyon Ziaie, Jackson Forbes and Gabriel Rissberger were second through fourth, respectively. It helped their school to the top spot with 20 points.

The rest of the top 10 finishes were: Seth Stevens of Whitesboro, Alex Keller of Sauquoit Valley, Clinton’s John Musante, Whitesboro’s Leo Wengert, RFA’s Luke Pelton and Proctor’s Sawyer Sweet. Whitesboro was second with 73 points. New Hartford was third (105), RFA was fourth (123) and Proctor was fifth (132).

Camden and Clinton both had 135 points. Notre Dame was eighth (221), NY Mills was ninth (298), Herkimer was 10th (321), Central Valley Academy was 11th (328), Poland was 12th (350) and Westmoreland was 13th (351)..
