An addictive TV drama starring Nicole Kidman is returning for a second series - and it makes for perfect viewing for fans of The White Lotus. Nine Perfect Strangers is back for season two, with the first two episodes of the new series premiering on Hulu on May 21 and further episodes launching weekly. The show sees nine new strangers come together to undergo Masha's (Nicole Kidman) psychedelic therapy at Zauberwald in the Austrian Alps.
The series stars Nicole Kidman, Henry Golding, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Lucas Englander, King Princess, Murray Bartlett, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Mark Strong and Aras Aydin. The synopsis for season two reads: "Nine new strangers connected in ways they could never imagine are invited by mysterious guru Masha Dmitrichenko (Nicole Kidman) to join a transformational wellness retreat in the Austrian Alps. Over the course of a week, she takes them to the brink.
"Will they make it? Will she? Masha is willing to try anything in the interest of healing everyone involved, including herself." The series is executive produced by David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, Molly Allen, Jonathan Levine, Rachel Shukert, Liane Moriarty, Matthew Tinker, Anthony Byrne and JH Butterworth.
The first series of Nine Perfect Strangers was released back in 2021 and was based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty. The news comes after Nicole shared her hopes of one day appearing in The White Lotus, which has been renewed for a fourth season following the success of the third. Speaking to IndieWire , she addressed whether she'd ever appear in the HBO series, admitting she "loves" the The White Lotus.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been asked. I’m a massive fan of Mike White, so I would do anything he writes, because I just think he’s phenomenal. I love The White Lotus.
So there you go," Nicole said at the premiere of her new movie, Holland. Nicole worked with The White Lotus creator Mike White back in 2004, when they shared the opening scene together in The Stepford Wives. Nine Perfect Strangers season two will premiere on Hulu on 21 May.
