Aimee Lou Wood has hit out at Saturday Night Live after they aired a parody of her White Lotus character Chelsea, which the actress branded "mean and unfunny".

Aimee Lou Wood took to social media to voice her dissatisfaction with Saturday Night Live's portrayal of her character from The White Lotus . The actress was particularly unimpressed by the April 12 White Potus skit , where Sarah Sherman exaggerated her teeth and famed British accent. On Instagram Stories, Aimee admitted, "I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny .

Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago." Reddit users echoed Aimee's sentiment, one user shared, "I follow Aimee Lou Wood on Instagram and she just posted in her Instagram story today that she did not like this at all." "I think she must be offended by how she was portrayed, fake teeth etc.

Every other character in the skit is a political figure in the current administration yet Chelsea is not, making her accent and looks appear to be used for laughs," they added. Another Reddit commenter agreed with the Sex Education star's perspective on humor, "Yeah, I agree with her. If the joke is just 'hurrhurr bad teeth' it's a pretty s--t joke.

" Meanwhile, another fan criticized the lack of originality, "I expected some memes/jokes would come from her teeth, but this is really weak." One individual remarked, "Yeahhh it's especially bad in the context that ALW has talked openly a lot about struggling with her self-image. And then they literally parody her appearance and nothing else lol.

I respect accuracy even if it's mean." The actress conveyed her acceptance of humorous mockery if done creatively and in jest, but found the SNL bit off the mark, explaining, "I am not thin skinned.

I actually love being taken the p--s out of when it's clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth.

"I don't mind caricature – I understand that's what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on." Furthermore, Aimee insisted that her issue wasn't with Sarah performing in the sketch but with the concept itself, and mentioned, "I've had apologies from SNL," although she did not elaborate.
