Things got a bit out of hand in more ways than one on Wheel of Fortune last week. The ABC game show's host, Ryan Seacrest , had everyone on tenterhooks when he threw himself to the ground while chasing after a wheel of cheese. The 50-year-old star informed the live-studio audience and those watching at home that he discovered the Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling Festival, held in the United Kingdom, and explained that participants race down a hill after a singular wheel of cheese.
Ultimately, whoever gets their hands on the wheel takes it home. A video of the wild segment was shared on the game show’s official Instagram page over the weekend. “So what could be better?” Ryan asked as his co-host, Vanna White, held up a fake wheel of cheese and asked him: “You ready to try it?” Despite Ryan declaring he “was born for this,” his physical skills proved otherwise.
68-year-old Vanna then dashed the cheese across the stage. Her co-host appeared ready, bending down in a runner’s position and scrambled after it. Ryan swiftly took off running after the wheel but didn’t get far before he lost his footing and fell, plummeting to the stage floor in what looked like a painful-looking belly flop.
The camera cut to Vanna hiding behind her hands as she audibly gasped. “Oh no,” she exclaimed as Ryan dusted himself and jumped up like nothing had happened. “Are you gonna be okay? Yes,” Vanna asked as he came running toward her with the cheese wheel in hand.
"He’s gonna be okay,” she reassured the audience. “He’s okay!” she excitedly reiterated. One user @robcorley95 wrote: "Who in the wheel world knew that Ryan could run that fast for cheese?" A second viewer @woolleyape added: "That’s a slippery floor," as @laughlinpaula63 quipped: "I LOVE RYAN HAHA LMAO." A fourth fan @kimklein47 gushed: "Ryan did not disappoint," while @wheelycrazyeugene warned: "Vanna had better be ready to step in for Ryan in case he injures himself!".
