We're diving into the facts, treatments, and personal stories with a special KHOU 11+ Conversation streaming live Wednesday at 8 a.m. on the free KHOU 11+ app.



This conversation will explore what epilepsy is, what causes it, how it’s treated, and what it’s like to live with the condition. We’ll also highlight the work of the Epilepsy Foundation Texas ahead of their Houston walk this Saturday, which helps fund education, research, and support programs for survivors and their families. Rebecca Moreau, Interim CEO of Epilepsy Foundation Texas Learn about the foundation’s mission, Saturday’s walk, and how the community can support families affected by epilepsy.

Dr. Atul Maheshwari , Epilepsy Specialist at Baylor College of Medicine He’ll break down the signs of epilepsy, common misconceptions, available treatments, and advances in medical research. Melanie Hambert , Board Member at Epilepsy Foundation Texas and epilepsy survivor Melanie will share her personal journey with epilepsy, including the challenges she’s faced, the impact of treatment, and how the foundation helped her find empowerment.

Our Ugochi Iloka will guide the conversation. She recently profiled Houstonian Laura Snyder, a woman diagnosed with epilepsy after years of unexplained symptoms. Laura’s inspiring journey of relearning how to walk and talk again will also be explored during the livestream.
