It’s been a volatile start to 2025 for the world’s financial markets, but KiwiSaver investors look to be sticking with their chosen funds, John Berry, chief executive and co-founder of Pathfinder, says. US stocks have posted their worst quarter since 2022 as worries about the disruption arising from US President Donald Trump’s tariffs weighed heavily on investor sentiment. Wall Street’s S&P 500 sank by almost 5% in the first three months of 2025 on fears of a recession.
Domestically the S&P/NZX50 index dropped by 6.4% over the March quarter. Despite the turmoil, Berry says KiwiSaver investors seem to be sticking with their chosen funds.
