Amitabh Bachchan hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati is going on in full swing. The quiz-based reality TV show continues to captivate viewers with the right dose of emotions, competitive spirit and laughter.

Having said that, the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16 kicked off with contestant Mitrabha Guha. Hailing from Kolkata, West Bengal, the 23-year-old holds the title of India’s 72nd Chess Grandmaster. Highlighting Mitrabha’s journey, the show aired a short clip in which his parents recalled how a relative gifted him a large wooden chess set on his first birthday that turned out to be an important moment in his life.

In 2004, Mitrabha started competing in championships, setting multiple records. The contestant revealed that his mother took a gold loan to fund his first international tour to Spain. After knowing his incredible journey, host Amitabh Bachchan began the game, asking the first question for Rs 1,000.

The question read, “On which of these devices can you usually not type?" Mitrabha correctly chose speakers. As the game proceeded, the contestant shared his experience of playing against the reigning World Chess Champion, Gukesh Dommaraju. During the conversation, Mitrabha recalled defeating Gukesh during a chess championship in Kolkata when they were younger.

After that, the two have also played multiple online chess matches with Gukesh during the lockdown. Mitrabha Guha successfully answered the questions one after the other. For the question worth Rs 6.

4 lakh, the contestant faces the question, “The Similipal Kai chutney made in Odisha, which has a GI tag, is made from which of these?" He correctly selects Option A) Red weaver ants. Hearing about ‘chutney made from ants,’ Big B was completely stuck. He questions, “Khane ke baad kaat le andar toh? Ye humko bahot ajeeb lag raha hai Cheeti ka chutney.

Pehli baar suna ye toh. (What if they bite you inside after eating it? I find this ant chutney very strange. I heard this for the first time).

" Coming back to the game, Mitrabha was asked a question for Rs 12.5 lakh. The question was, “Leon Trotsky, a key figure in the Russian Revolution, was assassinated in which country?" Unaware of the answer, he takes the ‘Audience Poll’ lifeline, followed by ‘Double Dip,’ but doesn’t find the answer satisfying.

Then, he selects Option B) West Germany, which turns out to be incorrect. For the second guess, he selects Option A) Yugoslavia, but even that was wrong. As he wrongly answers the question, he walks away with a massive prize of Rs 3,20,000.
