Former LSU baseball stars Paul Skenes and Dylan Crews met for the first time in their professional careers when the Pittsburgh Pirates faced the Washington Nationals on Monday. As the Pirates' starting pitcher, Skenes faced Crews twice through his six innings of work. Skenes got the best of the Nationals' outfielder on both occasions.

Crews grounded out twice. The first came on a 1-2 count as a ground ball back to Skenes, and the pitcher made a soft throw to first base for the out. In the second go-around, Crews worked a seven-pitch at-bat to a full count.



He grounded out to this base to end the frame and finished 0-4 for the game.Skenes grabbed his second win of the season, giving up one earned run on three hits while striking out six. Sixty-four of his 99 pitches went for strikes in the Pirates' 10-3 victory over the Nationals.
