What does Aiken's Generations Park need? You have three chances to let the city know.

But, there's still a lot of land available and the city's looking to the community to help determine what should be added to the park. The city plans to host public input sessions April 16 and 22 to hear from the community, said Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Jessica Campbell. The sessions will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.



m. at the Generations Park picnic shelter. The city is also offering an online survey.

It is available at cityofaikensc.gov/government/current-projects/ . The park is at 700 Mack Henry Holland Drive , just off the Columbia Highway (US Route 1) on Aiken's Northside .

Its name harkens to the city's past and its future. Beverly Clyburn, wife of S.C.

Rep. Bill Clyburn, was a longtime member of the Aiken City Council and an advocate of building the park. Generations refers to the line of playground equipment, Extreme Generations, that's installed at the park and as a "timeless name for a facility that will serve the community for generations to come," City Manager Stuart Bedenbaugh said in 2018.

The road in the park was named after Mack Holland. Holland served in the Army and Army Reserve, was active in the local NAACP branch and has become notable for his community service in Aiken, especially toward other veterans and within Second Baptist Church..
