( MENAFN - Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. In the recentparliamentary elections in Georgia, the ruling party, "GeorgianDream - Democratic Georgia," triumphed, indicating the electorate'srepudiation of opposition factions associated with Westernobjectives and the Georgian populace's dedication to their ownfuture, emphasizing prosperity and development over foreigninfluences, Azerbaijani Parliament member Azer Badamov toldTrend . He made it clear that by backing the "Georgian Dream," thepeople in Georgia have thrown a wrench in the works of Westernmeddling, which he painted as efforts to shove a foreign agendadown the throats of nations chasing their own paths.

"The election has shown that, despite various interventions andefforts to influence the democratic process, the West has notsucceeded in its aims. The West predominantly aims to subjugatenations that adopt autonomous policies to its influence, frequentlydeceiving individuals with the discourse of democratic principleswhile eroding their hard-earned sovereignty. The citizens ofGeorgia have decisively repudiated Western influence through theirdecision.

As a delegate of a cordial nation, I commend the Georgianpopulace for their judicious choice. As neighboring allies, we aimfor mutual prosperity, sustained independence, and enhanced peaceand cooperation in the region," he said. He also highlighted the significance of President of theRepublic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev's congratulatory letter toGeorgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze following the election, noting that such gestures underline the value of friendship andcooperation between the two nations.

"Only the leaders of friendly and close nations extend theircongratulations immediately after the election process concludes. In this context, President Ilham Aliyev's message reflects thesignificance of our neighborhood, friendship, brotherhood, andstrong cooperation with Georgia," he added. According to him, ensuring stability, development, andtraditional values in Georgia, while also preventing externalforces from exerting influence in the region, is crucial foradvancing relations between the two countries and fosteringcooperation and stability in the South Caucasus.

"In his congratulatory letter, the head of state emphasized theimportance of further strengthening our bilateral ties and invitedthe Prime Minister to visit Azerbaijan at a convenient time. Thisinvitation underscores the strong level of relations betweenAzerbaijan and Georgia," the MP stated. He also highlighted the active participation of Azerbaijanis whoare citizens of Georgia in the elections.

By supporting theGeorgian Dream party with a significant majority of votes, theyexpressed their opposition to the West's divisive policies in theregion, which threatened to turn it into a conflict zone. "Azerbaijanis living in Georgia made it clear that bothAzerbaijan and Georgia stand united against the encroachment ofWestern forces and their colonial agendas. I believe the Georgiangovernment will recognize the loyalty of Azerbaijanis to the stateand address their concerns more attentively.

If Armenia preventsthe West from establishing a foothold in the South Caucasus, asAzerbaijan and Georgia have done, our region can become a haven ofpeace and cooperation," Badamov added. In addition, another Azerbaijani MP Vugar Iskenderov toldTrend that theparliamentary elections in Georgia were notable for manyreasons. "First and foremost, the election results represented asignificant step against the insidious plans of the West for theSouth Caucasus," he said.

He noted that Azerbaijanis, along with other citizens of Georgiawho uphold traditional values, opposed the West's strategy offragmenting the region and turning it into a battleground. "Our compatriots in Georgia deserve special recognition fortheir support of the Azerbaijani state and President Ilham Aliyev'sregional policy, which aims to strengthen and develop relationsbetween Azerbaijan and Georgia. By backing the ruling party, theymade a decisive choice between peace and conflict and betweentraditional and immoral values," Iskenderov said.

The MP emphasized that the voting patterns of Azerbaijanis arecrucial for the ruling party's success. "In regions of Georgia where around 300,000 Azerbaijanis reside, voter turnout was notably high. Azerbaijani voters account forapproximately 7-8 percent of the total votes for the ruling party.

Their considerable numbers and influence provide them with animportant, even decisive role in the electoral process and thepolitical landscape of Georgia," he added.
