These elections, held in Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, Taldangra, Sitai (SC), and Madarihat (ST), are garnering considerable attention amidst the protests over the RG Kar Medical College incident, which has sparked widespread public outcry. The bypolls were necessitated by the resignation of sitting MLAs who vacated their seats after winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In Madarihat, a Scheduled Tribe (ST) seat, TMC's Jayprakash Toppo is ahead by 39,353 votes, leading BJP's Rahul Lohar, who has received 21,375 votes.
This seat was previously won by the BJP in the 2021 assembly polls. In Naihati, TMC's Sanat Dey has a strong lead with 40,663 votes, compared to BJP's Rupak Mitra, who has secured 15,461 votes. In Haroa, TMC's SK Rabiul Islam has garnered 48,107 votes, well ahead of Piyarul Islam from the All India Secular Front, who trails with 6,441 votes.
