Wes Anderson has revealed the first trailer to his highly anticipated comedy The Phoenician Scheme. The filmmaker is highly acclaimed in Hollywood for his hit films, including Asteroid City , Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Grand Budapest, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Director in 2015.
For his next film, Wes has teamed up once again with filmmaker Roman Coppola to gather stars like Scarlett Johansson , Benedict Cumberbatch, and Bill Murray for a comedy called The Phoenician Scheme. Benicio del Toro plays the lead, a millionaire called Zsa-zsa Korda, who has fathered nine sons and one daughter, a nun called Liesel played by Mia Threapleton, who is Kate Winslet’s daughter.
The trailer starts off with the actor hurt and trying to recover from his sixth plane crash. After his brief introduction, the character reveals to his only daughter that she is the sole heir to his estate. Immediately, she questions his motives, considering it’s been “six years since our last meeting.
” He then vaguely responds, “I have my reasons.” As trouble unfolds in the later clips, other members of the star-studded cast are caught up in catastrophe, including Michael Cera, Willem Dafoe, and Tom Hanks , who also starred in Wes' film Asteroid City. The last scene sees an assassin getting recognized in an elevator where Liesel is present.
His revealed identity causes him to take a “suicide pill.” The trailer closes with the nun splashing holy water on him while reciting a prayer.
