Bolton’s most well loved and established youth club is looking for people to share their memories, photographs and stories from their lives.

Bolton’s loved and long established youth club is looking for people to share their memories, photographs and stories from their lives. Bolton Lads and Girls Club will be celebrating its 136th anniversary this year, having enriched the lives of countless youngsters since it opened. The club is now reaching out to ex-members of all ages to get in touch and share their stories.

CEO Emma Hutchinson said: “We are looking for people’s memories of the club, photographs, stories, from their days at the club, or photographs from something in their lives now, that are significant because of the club. “It might be something they want to share about how being at the club made them feel, what difference it made or something that set them on a particular career path. ” Bolton Lads and Girls Club first opened in 1889 after being set up by two church leaders and three industrialists who wanted to improve the lives of young people in Bolton. Then, and for all 136 years since that time, the club has played a pivotal role in the lives of many thousands of young people from all across Bolton. To this day tens of thousands of young people’s lives are improved every year by the work the charity does.

The club hopes now to continue providing services for the children, young people and families of Bolton for the next 136 years and beyond. This will then lead on to an event for all BLGC Alumni later this year.

Ahead of this event, workers at the club are asking for pictures and memories to be sent in to them to be made a part of the artwork. Any former Bolton Lads and Girls Club members who are interested in taking part and sharing their stories can email [email protected].
