We’re ditching planes for trains on our holidays – but green travel doesn’t always come cheap

Travelling by train makes the journey part of the adventure. Photo: Getty Once Christmas Day is done, we start researching our summer holidays to get the best prices and to maximise the anticipation. This year, we are also determined to get the best value for the environment and so will stick to trains and drop the planes and automobiles.

It won’t be the first time we have tried this, but it might be the first time we fully succeed..
