Wellington restaurant Wilson Barbecue in liquidation, massive debt to IRD revealed

Less than a year ago Wellington restaurant Wilson Barbecue broke the Guinness World Record by selling 6336 burgers in one day. Earlier this month they closed their doors after going into liquidation owing enormous debts to Inland Revenue. The Johnsonville restaurant ceased trading after four-and-half-years in business amid difficult retail conditions.

Richard Nacey and Judith Shields of PwC were appointed liquidators of Wilson Barbecue Limited on April 3. Two related entities – Wilson Barbecue Willis Lane Limited and Smashed Limited – are also in liquidation..
