A “welcoming, affordable” salon where clients are like “extended family” has been nominated for an award. KB Hair Studio on Breightmet's Bury Road has won favour with Bolton News readers – and is one of the top 10 finalists in our Bolton's Best Hairdresser 2025 competition . It forms part of our series to celebrate local businesses with your help.
Owners Katy Chambers and Beki Barber first opened a salon on Bury Road 12 years ago, after their runaway success meant “outgrowing” their previous building. Katy said: "Beki and I had worked in the same salon years ago. When I was given the opportunity to run one, I hired her as manager.
"We worked perfectly together. From there, we decided to open KB Hair Studio. "We wanted to build a salon that was welcoming, affordable and had that homely feel.
“Clients aways tell us it’s not a normal everyday hairdresser. With the daily discussions and laughter, they love coming. “All our clients are like a little extended family.
We can’t thank them enough for helping us keep our business going for as long as we have.” The salon has gone from strength to strength – and moved again to a larger space three years ago. She said: “In 2022, we relocated further up Bury Road which offered a larger workspace for staff to do what we love.
“We offer all aspects of hair including haircuts, colouring and extensions, but also nails, eyebrows, facials and lashes.” Katy Chambers and Beki Barber (Image: Public) Staff at KB Hair Studio are self-employed and thrive in the environment. Katy said: “Everyone’s their own boss.
They have all built up their own businesses within our studio. “We are so proud of all of them. It’s such a lovely thing to see them thriving.
“All our staff love being part of the team. They say it doesn’t even feel like work and no day is the same. Some have been with us years now.
KB Hair Studio staff (Image: Public) “Even the clients have got to know each other through being in the salon together.” Customers have raved about Katy and Beki’s salon, but they were still surprised to be nominated for Bolton’s Best Hairdresser 2025 . Katy said: "When we heard we were nominated for the top 10, we were gobsmacked and overwhelmed.
“We weren’t even aware there was a competition. “It’s humbling to know the public voted for us, but to each and every person that did, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We would be over the moon to win.
“It makes the hard work we’ve put in over the years worth it, knowing that you love what we built.” To vote pick up a copy of today's paper..
