WHILE Senate Bill No. 2888 (House Bill No. 11072) has already hurdled the second reading in the Senate, we extend our deepest gratitude to the leaders who played pivotal roles in the progress of the bill in the Senate.

Firstly, thank you to the Senate leadership led by Sen. Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, to Sen.

Raffy Tulfo, chairman of the Senate committee on public services, to our main author Sen. Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri as well as our co-authors Sen. Bato dela Rosa and Sen.

Grace Poe. We would also like to thank other vocal supporters and interpellators who made improvements to the bill for the ultimate benefit of us consumers – Minority Leader Sen. Koko Pimentel, Sen.

Win Gatchalian and even Sen. Risa Hontiveros. We also extend our deepest appreciation to Rep.

Migs Nograles, the main author of HB 11072 at the House of Representatives alongside Rep. Gus Tambunting, who heads the House legislative franchises, for facilitating the hearings to highlight the importance of the bill. To our local leaders, led by Governors Edwin Jubahib of Davao del Norte and Dorothy Gonzaga of Davao de Oro – thank you for standing up for us.

We have also noticed the social media statements and even the swarm of criticisms and trolls mainly backed by groups and personalities whose main interest is in keeping the status quo – an inefficient, corrupt, and expensive electric cooperative which has become a burden to consumers. Perplexing as their stand may seem, we respect their right to free speech in a democratic country. Despite these foul and below-the-belt attacks from those who oppose the bill, these leaders have shown their dedication to improve the lives of the people of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.

Thank you all for your tireless efforts and commitment to making a significant difference for our communities. The difference you will make to the lives of the people of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro will surely be not forgotten.
