Jillian Lauren was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital and was later booked for attempted murder. In a shocking turn of events, Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren, was reportedly shot by police on Monday during their search for the hit-and-run suspects in the Los Angeles neighbourhood. Lauren was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound at a local hospital and was later booked for attempted murder.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the author, who has been married to the Weezer bassist since 2005, sustained a bullet injury during an “officer-involved shooting" on Monday afternoon. Around 3:25 PM, the California Highway Patrol requested police backup to locate three hit-and-run suspects who had fled into the residential area of the Eagle Rock neighbourhood. Upon securing the premises, the officers eventually noticed Jillian in the neighbourhood yard with a handgun, the authorities said in a press release.
They ordered her to drop the gun; however, she refused and eventually pointed the gun at them when the officer-involved shooting took place. In retaliation, the police opened fire, injuring Jillian in the process. The 51-year-old was later taken to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
While it was determined that Jillian was not involved in the hit-and-run cases and just lived at the residence where she was observed, she was booked for attempted murder. As per E! News, the bail for Jillian has been set at $1 million. Lauren, a recognised author, is known for her two bestselling novels, including 2010’s Some Girls: My Life in a Harem and 2015’s Everything You Ever Wanted.
She has been married to Scott Shriner since 2005, and the couple has two children. The band is now scheduled to perform at Coachella this weekend. Shriner is yet to comment on the development of his wife’s police case.
Meanwhile, the Weezer is set to perform at this weekend’s Coachella festival on Saturday, April 12..
