Ahead of Weezer's 2025 Coachella performance, the band's bassist Scott Shriner's wife has gotten into some major trouble with the law as Weezer gears up for their musical festival performance

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife got shot by cops during a wild chase in Los Angeles . TMZ reported that after she was shot, she was then booked for attempted murder . On Tuesday, LAPD officers responded to a hit-and-run on a freeway that wound through the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles .

Three suspects who were involved fled the scene on foot. One hopped out of his car, climbed a freeway embankment, and landed on a residential street. Although the suspect removed some of his clothing to fit in with the neighborhood, it didn’t work out for him.

Amid cops searching the area, putting up barricades, and closing off streets, Scott’s wife, Jillian Lauren, came from her and Scott’s home locked and loaded. According to TMZ, a law enforcement source told them that when she came from her home, she began shooting, presumably at a suspect. Officers reportedly yelled at her to drop the weapon; however, reports claimed that she ignored multiple orders, so officers fired, hitting her shoulder.

After that, Jillian ran back into the house, and then 30 minutes later, she and her babysitter came back out with their hands up as they surrendered to cops. Law enforcement divulged to TMZ that Lauren was then taken to a hospital and booked for attempted murder. The Mirror US has reached out to the LAPD and Weezer for comment.

This serious incident happened around when it was announced that her husband’s band, Weezer, would be added to the 2025 Coachella lineup along with Ed Sheeran. Festival-goers won’t have both artists on the same weekend, as they will be playing virtually in the same time slot in the same venue on different Saturdays. Weezer is scheduled to perform in the Mojave tent on April 12 at 3:10 p.

m., and Ed will have the same stage at 3 p.m.

on April 19. Weezer is getting 45 minutes for their set. Meanwhile, the Shape of You crooner has a solid hour.

Many fans of the rock band are highly anticipating their performance at Coachella and hope the incident with Scott’s wife won’t prevent them from doing the festival. On X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: “So like is Weezer still playing at Coachella on Saturday or,” wondering if their show was still on. Another begged the band to perform certain songs for their set.

“Weezer please perform Body Count's Cop Killer at Coachella and I will listen to all your albums. I will listen to the Rivers Cuomo home recordings I promise,” someone shared.
