90s rock band Weezer's bassist Scott Shriner focused on his music at Coachella after he declined to comment on his wife's shooting by police days before the festival

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner took to the Coachella stage after his wife was shot and injured by police and charged with attempted murder . The 59-year-old rockstar played alongside his band as they performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, but there was no mention of the shooting. Shriner joined the 90s rock band in 2001 and Weezer were a late addition to Coachella's first weekend lineup, announced shortly before the shooting .

His wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, 51, was injured outside their home in Eagle Rock, northeast Los Angeles, on Wednesday afternoon after a cop shot her in the shoulder. Jillian, a writer, had allegedly become caught up in a police manhunt through their neighborhood and pointed a gun at officers from her front yard, which is when they opened fire. Before the shooting, Jillian had not long shared she is battling cancer, and was absentee booked on suspicion of attempted murder while being taken to a nearby medical facility by paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Los Angeles Times reported.

But despite this, the rockstar made no mention of his wife, and clearly focused on his music during their set on Saturday - playing some of their biggest hits including My Name Is Jonas, Hash Pipe and Pork and Beans. Fans took to X to share their thoughts on Shriner's performance after the police altercation with his wife, and one user penned, "I wouldn't be able to handle it," while another wrote, "Weezer hasn't received this much press ever. I wonder if music sales will go up?" A third jibed, "Got to pay them lawyer fees somehow.

" The performance comes after Shriner had said his wife is "alright" after the shooting and at the same time promoted his band's upcoming Coachella performance. Speaking outside his Los Angeles home Thursday, Shriner said, "She's alright, thank you for asking," when approached by a New York Post reporter. Scott made sure to let the public know that he has "of course" talked to Jillian since the incident.

He declined to give any further details about his wife, but said, "See you at Coachella."
