Weezer bassist Scott Shriner has confirmed he will still perform at Coachella this weekend after his wife was arrested for attempted murder after being shot by police

Weezer's bassist Scott Shriner has announced he will still appear at Coachella after his wife was shot by LAPD and charged with attempted murder . The iconic festival , set in Indio, California, is back for its 2025 run. The event spans two action-packed weekends, from April 11–13 to April 18–20, with a stellar lineup that includes Lady Gaga , Green Day, Post Malone and Travis Scott.

After his wife's shock arrest , Shriner is pushing forward with Weezer's eagerly awaited performance at Coachella this weekend. However, a harrowing event recently unfolded near their Los Angeles residence. Jillian Lauren-Shriner, 51, was wounded by gunfire on Wednesday afternoon during an unrelated police chaser in their neighborhood.

The following day, the 59-year-old musician confirmed his participation in the famed festival while taking a leisurely walk with his four dogs, maintaining a cool demeanor amid the chaos. When questioned about Jillian's condition, he simply stated, "She's alright, thank you for asking," and then cheerfully added, "See you at Coachella!" The incident involving Jillian occurred on April 8, 2025, in Los Angeles. As officers were investigating a hit-and-run incident in Eagle Rock, Shriner reportedly stepped outside her home wielding a firearm.

Despite being ordered to drop her weapon, she allegedly aimed it at the police, resulting in officers shooting her in the shoulder. After the incident, she was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Shriner received treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening and was later released on a $1 million bond.

"The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times. However, she refused. Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, prompting at least one to open fire," stated the LAPD.

Musician Shriner and writer Lauren have been married since November 2005, sharing two adopted children and a pair of dogs. Jillian is recognized for her literary work, particularly her 2010 memoir Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, recounting her experiences with Prince Jefri Bolkiah, brother to the Sultan of Brunei, from 1992 to 1995. Shriner has been with Weezer since 2001, earning the title of the band's most enduring bassist.

Their 2019 Coachella act remains etched in memory, notably when they stunned attendees by inviting TLC's Chilli for a rendition of No Scrubs and Tears for Fears for Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
