A winter storm warning remains in effect for all of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through 3 a.m. Monday, as heavy snow and periods of ice are expected through the weekend.
A blizzard warning will go into effect for counties along and adjacent to the highway 36 corridor from 3 a.m. Sunday to 3 a.
m. Monday, including all of Northeast Kansas and the following counties in Northwest Missouri: Holt, Andrew, Buchanan, Platte, Clinton, Dekalb, Gentry. Gusty winds of up to 40 mph and heavy snowfall rates are forecast to result in blowing snow and low visibility for an extended period of time across these areas.
Snow accumulations between 9 and 16 inches are anticipated across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, with the highest totals most likely along the highway 36 corridor. Periods of freezing rain will also result in ice accumulation of up to two-tenths of an inch, with higher accumulations expected south of the I-70 corridor. Travel will become extremely difficult on Saturday evening, Sunday and into Monday, as road conditions will be hazardous.
