Week 5 football live report: No. 1 Jones at Osceola in Thursday night clash

Week 5 FHSAA high school football includes Orlando area No. 1 Jones at Osceola, Thursday, and state-ranked Friday matchups: Lake Mary at Dr. Phillips, Delray Beach Atlantic-The First Academy, Lake Wales-Sanford Seminole, Apopka-Edgewater, Orange City University-Eau Gallie.

Week 5 of high school football features a number of matchups between state-ranked teams looking to maintain or gain momentum in non-district games. That starts tonight with Class 4A power Jones going to Kissimmee to take on 6A Osceola. We have reporters providing live updates on key games as they unfold (below) and will be looking for happenings from other contests.

Jones QB Dereon Coleman, a Miami commit, has completed an astounding 80.7% of his passes (46 of 57). Jones scored a 31-21 win against 5A Edgewater at Camping World Stadium last Saturday.

The Eagles are scheduled to face their third Super 16 opponent in 10 days in a Tuesday 6 p.m. home game at Winter Park (2-0); and then play their fourth game in 15 days at Auburndale (2-1) on Friday, Sept.

9 Apopka (3-1) at No. 5 Edgewater (2-2) Coverage by Philip Rossman-Reich State top 10 teams, Apopka in 7A, Edgewater in 5A. Apopka’s defense has allowed only six points.

But it was Edgewater that blanked the Blue Darters 28-0 last season. No. 10 Orange City University (4-0) at Eau Gallie (4-0) MaxPreps ranks the Titans No.

5 in 7A and Eau Gallie No. 2 in Class 3A. Deltona (1-2) at No.

12 DeLand (3-1), Spec Martin Stadium DeLand, MaxPreps’ No. 6 in 7A, crushed the Wolves 70-12 last season for its 11th consecutive win in the “Battle for the Bone” series. No.
