Weather Impact Alert issued for Southeast Texas because of increased fire danger

There's a Red Flag Warning in effect for Southeast Texas today from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

HOUSTON — The KHOU 11 Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert because of a Red Flag Warning that goes into effect today. Low relative humidity and high winds will lead to an increased fire danger across Southeast Texas. A 2,000-acre fire is already burning in San Jacinto County near the Montgomery County line, which has led to evacuations of around 900 homes .

The Red Flag Warning is in effect from 1 p.m. until 7 p.



m. for the following counties in Southeast Texas: Walker, San Jacinto, Polk, Burleson, Brazos, Washington, Grimes, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Colorado, Austin, Waller, Inland Harris, Chambers, Wharton, Fort Bend, Inland Jackson, Inland Matagorda, Inland Brazoria, Inland Galveston, Southern Liberty, Coastal Harris, Coastal Jackson, Coastal Matagorda, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal Galveston. People should take the following precautions as told to us by the Houston Fire Department last time there was a Red Flag Warning.
