Posting on X, Rane responded to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader's recent claim that Union home minister Amit Shah wants to make India a " Hindu Pakistan ." "But we want to turn Pakistan into a Hindu Rashtra.

His remarks appeared to reference Raut's column in 'Saamana', where he accused the BJP of fuelling communal divisions and steering India toward becoming a "Hindu Pakistan." Rane has previously demanded the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb from Khultabad in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and had referred to Kerala as a "Mini Pakistan.
