LEON released their new festive menu - and the team at Express Towers gave their verdict.

LEON released its limited Christmas menu on November 13, introducing a new breakfast wrap, the latest mains, a sweet treat and drinks. Starting off with The Christmas Cracker – a meat-filled feast with miso, caramelised onion, turkey, pork stuffing, bacon, and cranberry chutney – it surely sounds delightful. However, the reviewer Ellen Jenne said The Christmas Cracker leads to "more of a fizzle than a bang".

Visibly underwhelmed, Ellen explained: "Its varying flavours melded together, but the sweetness of a cranberry chutney and mediocre stuffing was all you taste. "The turkey seemed non-existent..

. and there was no hint of the miso it promised; it would be more fitting to call it a stuffing wrap." Not happy with the texture, comparing it to "baby food", Ellen would have preferred a "crunch" so gave The Christmas Cracker a dismal two out of five star rating.

A post shared by LEON (@leonrestaurants) The underdog hero, however, came in the form of the Turkey Christmassaman curry rice box, which got a much better score. The Turkey Christmassaman mixes turkey, roast potatoes and carrots with a creamy coconut curry sauce spiced with galangal, cardamom, ginger and lemongrass. Reviewer Emily Heward said: "It's a hearty, warming meal with a scattering of crispy onions, parsley and mint topping it off.

"There's a hint of cinnamon, star anise and nutmeg in there giving it some festive flavour too, but it could be a bit bolder for me - Christmas is no time for subtlety." A post shared by LEON (@leonrestaurants) Emily found the Christmas offering a "refreshing change from the usual turkey, cranberry and stuffing specials on most Christmas menus". "It's a dish I'd happily order again at any time of year," she added, giving the Turkey Christmassaman a four out of five stars.

Also receiving a good review was The Full Monty breakfast wrap with bacon, sausage, egg, spinach and ketchup. "Nice and tasty," the reviewer beamed, but noted that the ketchup has an "Indian spice flavour" that is a bit quirky – a solid four out of five. As for the new coffees on offer, both the Praline Dream Latte and Iced Praline Dream Latte got five out of five for their "perfect" taste.

These coffee drinks not only tasted really lovely, they didn't give the reviewers any heart palpitations, which normally happens when drinking coffee from elsewhere. The Praline Dream Matcha Latte and Iced Praline Dream Matcha Latte, however, were not favoured in the office, both getting a mediocre two-star rating. This could, however, be explained that matcha wasn't a flavour the reviewers liked very much in the first place.

Meanwhile, the Praline Dream Hot Chocolate had run out of stock by the time we made our order at lunchtime...

so it must be popular! Then there's the Blueberry, Lemon and Poppyseed Muffin that went down a treat, but given an OK score of three out of five. Absolutely great Praline Dream Latte - 5/5 Iced Praline Dream Latte - 5/5 Turkey Christmassaman - 4/5 The Full Monty - 4/5 Blueberry, Lemon and Poppyseed Muffin - 3/5 Didn't go down well The Christmas Cracker - 2/5 Iced Praline Dream Matcha Latte - 2/5 Praline Dream Matcha Latte - 2/5.
