Anju Nair from Thrissur and Sangeetha Sharma from Pathanamthitta recently opened up about their relationship in an interview with 'Kaumudi Movies'. The couple, who met through Instagram, shared their experiences of love, challenges and societal judgment. The duo revealed that they met in person two months after starting their relationship online.
However, their union wasn’t without hurdles. Sangeetha, an only child, faced issues at home when her family found her relationship. The situation escalated after she returned home late from meeting Anju.
“Sangeetha came to live with me on the fourth day after we met in person,” Anju said, recounting the early days of their life together. They also shared how they had to visit the police station to address concerns raised by their families. “It seemed like the police were hearing about lesbians for the first time,” Sangeetha remarked.
Despite numerous obstacles, they managed to stand firm in their decision to be together. The couple describes their relationship as akin to that of a husband and wife. Anju identifies as the ‘husband’ in their partnership.
Reflecting on her journey, she revealed that she discovered her identity years ago while navigating a failed marriage. “I got married very young and had a daughter, but the relationship didn’t work out. I realized I communicated better with women and started living life on my terms,” she shared.
Their love story has sparked curiosity, with many people asking how they met or even prying into their personal lives. “People often ask inappropriate questions about our private life but we don’t entertain such comments,” Sangeetha clarified..
