Ashanti Regional minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, in an interview on GHone monitored by MyNewsGH, has emphasised that the contest over the Obuasi East parliamentary seat is far from over.

Contrary to recent reports claiming that Samuel Aboagye, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, had withdrawn from the legal battle, Dr. Amoakohene clarified that the NDC is still actively pursuing the case in court. “We are still in court,” Dr.

Amoakohene affirmed, addressing what he described as misleading information about Aboagye’s withdrawal. He further stated that the court proceedings continue as they believe the election results in Obuasi East were unfairly declared. Dr.

Amoakohene pointed out discrepancies between the results declared at the Obuasi East collation centre and the final figures declared in Accra, suggesting that the latter might have been manipulated. He expressed confidence that the NPP’s legal team possesses ample evidence to prove their case beyond any reasonable doubt. Despite the challenges, Dr.

Amoakohene’s remarks suggest a steadfast determination to fight for what they believe is the rightful result. He noted that the NPP had a substantial lead during the initial count, but the figures in the subsequent recount did not reflect this reality. “You had a lead of over 14,000 votes, and now you’re telling us the difference is just 19 votes?” he questioned.
