Robert Lewandowski has once again hailed Hansi Flick’s impact at Barcelona and says the whole team feels stronger under the German. Flick is known for his intense approach both on the training pitch and in games, and Lewandowski says the fitness work has made a big difference. “Every individual in the club is doing better,” he told The Athletic.
“We, the players, are doing great on the pitch. I also think we all feel stronger. “When you have this fitness preparation we have now, you don’t need to worry about keeping the physical demands of the game and then also think about how to beat your opponent.
We now know we are fine, we have the power and the legs to do what we need.” Lewandowski also spoke about the support he receives off the pitch from Flick and how conversations with the coach are really important. “I am very glad to see that the coach supports me.
But for me, at this point of my career, seeing what somebody says to the media is not that important,” he added. “The most important thing is what he says to me in private, in the dressing room, in meetings or every day in training sessions. There’s even sometimes he (Flick) does not say something to the media but he says it to me directly.
This is key.” The Barcelona striker is set to return from a back injury against Celta on Saturday. He currently has 14 goals in 13 La Liga games but will be aiming to add to his tally at Balaidos.
