Water main break cuts service to Boston hospital

Faulkner Hospital in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood lost water service on Friday evening due to a nearby water main break. According to a traffic notice posted on the hospital's website, National Grid was expected to be working at the nearby intersection of Centre Street and Allendale Street on Friday. A National Grid spokesperson said it had crews working in the area when the water main break occurred.

The utility said gas service to the hospital was not interrupted. James Faretra of the Boston Water and Sewer Commission confirmed the break occurred on Centre Street at Allandale Street. "The main is off and crews are accessing the situation.



We believe no residences are without water however there may be possible disruptions and water discoloration," he said in a statement. Boston police warned the break was impacting traffic in the area..
