Pune: Taps are expected to run dry on Tuesday, April 8, in several parts of the city due to damage to the Phase 1 raw water line and a major drainage main line between Khadakwasla to Warje water works and Holkar water works. According to a press release issued by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), repair work on these lines will be carried out on the same day, leading to a disruption in the regular water supply. The affected areas span a wide stretch of the city, including neighbourhoods such as Warje, Shivane Industrial area, Karvenagar, Shivajinagar, Gokhale Nagar, Bhosale Nagar, Pashan, Banner, Balewadi, Kothrud, and parts of Khadaki.
With the repair work scheduled to continue throughout the day, PMC has also informed residents that water tankers will not be available during this period. Earlier this month, on April 3, the PMC had already announced a 24-hour water supply cut across the city to facilitate maintenance at various pumping stations and water treatment plants. This new disruption adds to the ongoing water management challenges in Pune as the civic body works to upgrade and repair its infrastructure.
