India star batter Virat Kohli didn’t have a great day at the office during the first Border-Gavaskar series Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Not only did the 36-year-old fail to deliver with the bat but also dropped a fairly easy catch to give Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne with a massive lifeline. The incident took place on the last ball of the third over of Australia’s first innings, which was bowled by pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

The batter ended up edging the ball to second slip and travelled straight to Kohli. Though the 36-year-old collected the ball neatly, it ended up slipping out of his hands. The video made rounds on social media where the fans again trolled Kohli, but this time it wasn’t for his batting performance but rather because he didn’t give his 100 per cent on the field.

However, this mistake wouldn’t cause India much damage as Labuschagne would only manage to score 2 runs off 52 deliveries before losing his wicket to Mohammed Siraj. The wicket ended up breaking the backbone of Australia who finished the day on 67/7 and still trail by 83 runs heading into the second day of the first Test. However, the catch only extended Kohli’s records of being the Indian player who has dropped the most catches since 2019 with 36.

Kohli is followed by Rohit Sharma who currently stands on 33 dropped catches..
