In a rare and remarkable case, doctors performed a complex brain surgery while keeping the patient awake throughout the procedure. Known as an awake craniotomy, this technique requires the patient to remain conscious during the operation. Viral videos show the patient watching a Jr.

NTR film as doctors carry out the procedure. The surgery took place at Kakinada Government General Hospital in Andhra Pradesh, where 55-year-old A. Ananthalakshmi underwent the operation for a brain tumour.

The woman had been experiencing numbness in her limbs and persistent headaches. After a medical evaluation, doctors diagnosed her with a 3.3 x 2.

7 cm tumour on the left side of her brain, according to an IANS report. Owing to high prices at private hospitals, Ananthalakshmi chose the government hospital where the doctors made her tune into the scenes from NTR’s popular Telugu film, Adhurs. After operating on her for around two and a half hours, the doctors successfully removed the tumour and are anticipating to discharge her within five days.

A video capturing the medical marvel is going viral on the internet, where the hospital staff can be seen assisting the patient in holding a tablet in front of her and watching the film while the doctor performs the surgery.
