KL Rahul was dismissed for just 10 as India A collapsed to 73 for 5 in their second innings of their 2nd unofficial Test against against Australia A at the MCG. Published: November 8, 2024 1:27 PM IST By Edited by India A batters disastrous run against Australia A continued on Day 2 of their 2nd unofficial Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday. KL Rahul, who was drafted into the India A side at the last moment with Dhruv Jurel, had a disastrous outing in both innings ahead of the India vs Australia 2024 Test series for the Border Gavaskar Trophy which gets underway in Perth on November 22.

After scoring only 4 in the first innings, Rahul was dismissed for 10 off 44 balls. But was the manner of Rahul’s dismissal that shocked everyone. The former Lucknow Super Giants captain, was bowled between his legs while shouldering arms to Australia A leg-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli.

au (@cricketcomau) India A ended the day at 73 for 5, just leading Australia A by 11 runs. Jurel, who scored 80 in the first innings, was unbeaten on 19 while all-rounder Nitish Reddy was batting on 9. Apart from Rahul, other India A batters didn’t do much better either.

Opener Abhimanyu Easwaran failed again, scoring 17 off 31 balls before falling to Nathan McAndrew. Sai Sudharsan, who scored a century at Mackay in the last match against Australia A, was dismissed by off-spinner Beau Webster for 3 while India A skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for 11 by McAndrew. Devdutt Padikkal also fell to Webster for 1.

Earlier, India A bowlers did an impressive job to reduce Australia A to 167 for 8 in reply to their first innings score of 161. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4/50 while Mukesh Kumar scalped 3/41. Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed also picked up 2 wickets.

But Rocchiccioli threw his bat around to smash 35 off 28 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours to extend Australia A lead to 62 runs.
