BERNARD FLYNN and Peter Casey were among the GAA stars who happily watched Croke Park become a temporary home for Coldplay. The pop megastars played the first of four nights at GAA HQ on Thursday evening. A sold-out crowd took in the spellbinding show that saw an extensive lights and fireworks show complement hits like 'Viva La Vida', 'Higher Power' and 'Something Just Like This'.

While replying to X followers after posting his video from the event, Flynn assured anyone going to any of the other nights that it is worth the steep ticket price. He added: "They played for two hours and the sound was fantastic awesome show." Meanwhile among the comments, one person joked: "Most colour there since the Armagh fans last month.

" The big-time nature of the global stars performing in Ireland's biggest stadium was in stark contrast to their first public appearances in the country. Chris Martin initially popped up singing with an elderly busker in Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday morning. And later that day he performed a surprise gig on Grafton Street.

He was the sole member of the quartet in attendance. However, UK rapper Little Simz, Burna Boy and pop star Elyanna were also in toe to accompany him in his special performance. Earlier in the day, eager fans caught wind of a rumour that he would be making an appearance on Grafton Street.

As word spread, swarms of crowds began to form around the famous street with hopeful punters waiting to catch a glimpse. They weren't disappointed in the end as he turned up around 8.30 pm.

Rather than belting out a medley of well-known tunes though, he was recording a video for a new song so passers by only got to hear that single track on repeat. The eclectic group performed an acoustic rendition of the new single 'We Pray'. FOOTBALL legends Tony Cascarino, Stuart Pearce, Andy Reid and Neil O'Riordan will join The Irish Sun’s first live football preview event on Tuesday September 3 ahead of the Republic of Ireland v England match in The Aviva that weekend.

The event, which is for over 18s only, will take place in The Camden, Dublin 2, from 6.15pm – 9pm.

The ticket includes a complimentary drink for attendees and each ticketholder will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a pair of match tickets to the big game in the Aviva on Saturday September 7. Further Croke Park concerts will take place on Friday August 30, Sunday September 1 and Monday September 2. The popular group haven't played a gig in Ireland for over seven years. Tickets for the show went on sale last July and were swiped up by keen fans in under an hour.
