Boston Celtics guard Derrick White took the mound Thursday night, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park ahead of a Boston Red Sox home game.

Spring has sprung in New England and that means two things for sports fans in the area. One, the Boston Celtics are finally set for a deep postseason run to defend their 2024 NBA title. And second, the Boston Red Sox are back in action.

Those two worlds collided on Thursday ahead of the Red Sox home game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Prior to the action, Celtics guard and fan favorite Derek White took the mound at Fenway Park to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. White himself is a baseball fan, and said on social media he was a little nervous about getting the ball over the plate.

In the end, his throw was a little high and outside, but maybe if the umpire was a Celtics fan White would end up with a strike call. White and the Celtics are back in action Friday night with a home tilt against the Charlotte Hornets, the penultimate regular season game of the season. You can watch White throw out the first pitch at Fenway for the Red Sox below, courtesy of NESN.
