The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors and speculation are officially here. The Milwaukee Bucks are on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers, and that'll lead to another offseason of wondering whether the Greek Freak will be on the move. The pondering all feels a little louder this time around.
The Bucks likely won't have Damian Lillard for the entirety of next season after his torn Achilles. And the Bucks haven't made much noise in the playoffs since their 2021 NBA title. Former NBA star Chandler Parsons went on FDTV on Monday to give his take, and it's spicy.
Parsons wants the Golden State Warriors to trade for Antetokounmpo. "A team like Golden State, Giannis could go there," Parsons said . Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp His co-host, former sixth man star Lou Williams, added on.
"It's probably time for Milwaukee heads and Giannis to have a real conversation," Lou-Will said. Antetokounmpo has never shown an inclination to leave Milwaukee. The Bucks are the team who embraced him and his family when he was a skinny 18-year old from Greece who knew nothing about the United States.
This would be a logical offseason for a move, yes. And the Warriors would surely welcome another superstar alongside Stephen Curry, akin to their Kevin Durant move last decade. Whether the Warriors have enough assets to get a deal done is less certain.
There might not be a team in the league with enough to be a fair trade for Giannis besides maybe the Oklahoma City Thunder and their treasure trove of draft picks plus young talent. The rumors won't quiet, though. And a Bucks-Warriors deal is one of the most fascinating possibilities that could end up on the table.
