Popular retailer Warby Parker celebrated its Sept. 14 grand opening at Mount Pleasant's Belle Hall Shopping Center in hopes of replicating its success at the eyeglass venue's 415 King St. location in Charleston.

Entering the Mount Pleasant area, per Nickole Richardson — the certified dual-store leader in the Charleston market — was partially spurred by several local customers who expressed their preferences to see Warby Parker set up shop a little closer to home. As for what makes Warby Parker's selection of optical glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses among the most sought after eyewear varieties is its unique one-stop-shop identity. As both a retailer and eyewear manufacturer, said Richardson, the New York-based publicly-traded company only sells what it makes.

And by being a single-brand focused entity, Warby Parker isn't encumbered by licensing issues with their merchandise being produced in-house from start to completion. In terms of sheer quality, Richardson maintains that the wood pulp used in crafting their eyeglass offerings make their products among the most durable around. Many customers, in fact, are still sporting the original specs they purchased back when Warby Parker first burst on the scene in 2010.

In addition to the chain's commitment to providing patrons with high-end products and services — including eye exams — Warby Parker also believes in giving back in the form of free glasses to the less fortunate. "We are definitely into doing good. So, with every purchase we're definitely going to give back tenfold," added the 30-year-old Panama-born and Charleston-raised manager who's been with the Warby Parker family for two-and-a-half years.

"I love the company. I love our core values, and I can't wait to see how Warby grows." Warby Parker's newly-opened Mount Pleasant store is located at 644 Long Point Road.
