War hero celebrates major milestone

Edward Parker, a World War II veteran and former prisoner of war, celebrated his 100th birthday on March 30 with a party held March 26 at Rochester Manor, a skilled nursing facility offering short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. Staff, residents, community veterans, and representatives from the Veterans Administration came together at Rochester Manor to honor Parker’s remarkable milestone. He served in the 3rd Infantry Division of the United States Army and was recognized with a personal letter from Secretary of Veteran Affairs Douglas Collins as part of the Centenarian Veterans program honoring the legacy of the “Greatest Generation.
