Walton Goggins described the SNL sketch that made fun of Aimee Lou Wood as 'amazing' and 'smashing' even though the actress said she considered it 'mean and unfunny'

Walton Goggins appeared to praise the Saturday Night Live sketch that mocked Aimee Lou Wood amid rumors of an alleged feud between the two actors. At the weekend, 31-year-old actress, who played Chelsea in the hit HBO series The White Lotus , called out the TV show for the way they depicted her character in their skit, The White POTUS. In the April 12 episode, SNL cast member Sarah Sherman portrayed Chelsea with exaggeratedly large teeth and a heavy British accent.

Aimee, 31, described the sketch as "mean and unfunny" before saying she had received "apologies from SNL" on Instagram - but she later said she didn't blame Sarah for the skit. SNL received widespread criticism online, with people saying the sketch was needlessly cruel towards Aimee, but her co-star Walton, 53, seemed to find it funny. In a since-deleted Instagram Story, the actor - who played Rick, Chelsa's love interest in The White Lotus - described the sketch as "SMASHING.

" He then wrote, "Jon I knew I was miscast," referencing Jon Hamm portraying Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while channeling his character, Rick.

He also commented on the video shared by SNL's Instagram page, writing, "Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg." This comes amid rumors of a feud between Walton and Aimee. While the stars haven't confirmed this publicly, it appears that they no longer follow each other on Instagram, despite each of them following the rest of The White Lotus cast.

Fans weren't impressed by Walton praising the sketch as one replied to his comment, "I didnt think of it but someone pointed out that everyone else is a political figure and her character is just her and making fun of her, so thats uncool." Another said, "Disappointing response given it's upset your co-star." A person wrote, "Brilliant sketch, except they really didn't have to make fun of Aimee Lou Wood, it's just being horrid to a lovely actress for no reason.

" A fourth told SNL, "you could have done it without mocking Amy," and someone else said, "Lou parody was a huge mistake guys." In her latest social media update, Aimee stressed she wasn't annoyed at Sarah for her portrayal. Sharing a selfie of herself in the background with a black box of text written in white, she said, "Actually one last thing.

Not @sarahsquirm's fault x. Not hating on her, hating on the concept x." She also wrote previously in another Story before the post defending Sarah, that she is not "thin skinned.

" "I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride," The Sex Education alum continued. "I have big gap teeth not bad teeth.

I don't mind caricature - I understand that's what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on." Aimee followed up with a third post with a screenshot of a comment that read, "It was a sharp and funny skit until it suddenly took a screeching turn into 1970's misogyny.

" She wrote over the screenshot, agreeing, "This sums up my view x." The skit was a pre-recorded one that aired on the April 12 episode of SNL. Jon Hamm was the host and Lizzo was the musical guest.

The spoof of the hit HBO show had a political spin to it that saw current and past cast members, The Mad Men star and a surprise cameo of Scarlett Johansson playing political and public figures such as Donald Trump, selects members of his family, Vladimir Putin, Marco Rubio and more. In one part of the sketch, Jon played Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

and he has a conversation with Sarah, who plays Chelsea, about taking fluoride out off the drinking water.
