WA news LIVE: Mid-flight scare for FIFO flight diverted to Geraldton

Police are asking for the public’s help while investigating a suspicious fire in East Fremantle overnight. About 8.35pm authorities responded to a residence on Oakover Street and found a small fire out the front.

A Qantas flight from Perth to Paraburdoo had to be diverted last night, with passengers claiming they were told to get into the brace position for landing, because of a mechanical issue. The QF164 flight departed Perth Airport at 3.

30pm bound for the mining town, but landed in Geraldton at 5.20pm. The Qantas flight was diverted yesterday.
