Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has officially launched its biggest electric vehicle yet with the arrival of its EX90. This is a flagship fully electric 3-row 7-seater SUV and it is launched alongside its refreshed Volvo XC90 SUV for 2025. The EX90 is not only the brand’s largest passenger EV yet in Malaysia, it is also said to be the safest Volvo car ever made with a host of safety features and sensors including LiDAR on the roof.

VCM is also offering the first 50 Volvo EX90 buyers a wallbox voucher worth RM5,000 and a free panoramic roof sunshade.Volvo EX90 Malaysia Key Specs and FeaturesFor Malaysia, we are getting the fully spec’ed EX90 Ultra Twin configured with 7-seats which delivers 380KW (509hp) and 910Nm of torque. It is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 4.
9 seconds, up to a top speed of 180km/h. This 400V EV is equipped with a 111kWh battery (107kWh usable), the EX90 has a WLTP-rated range of up to 623km on a single charge. The EX90 supports three-phase 11kW AC charging which takes an estimated 10 hours to charge from 0-100%.
For a quick top-up, it supports DC charging up to 250kW and 10-80% charge takes approximately 30 minutes. In terms of design, it carries a similar design language as the smaller EX30 with a closed face design and a C-shaped taillights. What stands out the most is its dynamic Thor-hammer daytime running lights (DRL) which can retract at night to reveal its high definition pixel headlights.
The Volvo EX90 is actually longer and wider than the XC90. It measures 5,037mm long, 1,964mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2,985mm. In terms of storage, the EX90 offers a 310-litre boot with all three row seats up.
If you need more space for your IKEA shopping, the SUV offers up to 1,915-litre of storage with both rear row seats folded flat and this is inclusive of the 65-litre underfloor storage under the boot. If that’s not enough, there’s extra storage upfront with its 46L frunk. The 3rd row seats are powered, while the 40:20:40 middle-row seats offer manual adjustments for both sliding and recline.
On the inside, the EX90 features a central 14.5′′ infotainment display with Google built-in and it also gets a 9′′ digital instrument cluster and a 13.2′′ head-up display (HUD).
The EX90 is also equipped with a 25-speaker 1610W Bowers and Wilkins sound system which include a sub-woofer and speakers built-in to the headrest for front occupants.The EX90 Ultra Twin runs on 21′′ Aero wheels and it also features dual-chamber air suspension on all four wheels. According to Volvo, the EX90 is hardware-ready for autonomous driving and it is also equipped with a LiDAR on the roof which is able to detect objects and other road users up to 250 metres in darkness at highway speeds.
During the launch, Volvo says that the LiDAR is functional from day one. However, at the moment, LiDAR on the EX90 is currently used to understand and to learn about the local road conditions and driving habits. LiDAR assisted autonomous features will be rolled out in later stages via OTA updates once it is ready and approved for local use.
