Volleyball roundup: Willmar makes quick work of Apollo

ST. CLOUD — The Willmar volleyball team evened its record to 2-2 with a sweep of St. Cloud Apollo on Thursday.

The Cardinals won 25-8, 25-10, 25-8. Willmar recorded 19 ace serves, led by Ellery DeBoer’s 11. DeBoer also had 22 set assists and four kills.



Gretchen Volk and Brielle Ogdahl led the Cardinals with seven kills each. Volk also had eight digs. Willmar’s next match is 7 p.

m. Tuesday against Sartell in Willmar’s Big Red Gym. Apollo fell to 1-2.

Central Lakes Willmar 3, Apollo 0 West Central Melrose 3, Benson 0 Melrose recorded a 25-12, 25-20, 26-24 victory over Benson at Melrose. For Benson, Julia Clausen had 25 set assists. Carly Tolifson had six kills and Jada O’Leary, Madison Osterbauer and Lexi Hoberg all had five.

BOLD 3, Morris/CA 1 Zoey Lippert had 16 kills and Lilly Henriksen added 15in BOLD’s victory over Morris/Chokio-Alberta in Olivia. Layla Pfarr had 38 set assists and Henriksen and Kenly Elfering each had four ace serves for the Warriors.Elfering also had 19 digs.

Minnewaska 3, Montevideo 0 Dacia Fleury had six kills and Mya VanLuik had four as Minnewaska won at Montevideo. Berlynn Green had four ace serves and Haillie Schulz added 18 set assists for the Lakers. Jessa Norby had three kills and Taryn Stenson added three ace serves to lead the Thunder Hawks.

Minnewaska is host to Sauk Centre at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Montevideo has a home match with Melrose at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Non-conference Paynesville 3, Dassel-Cokato 2 Ava Martinson had 17 kills, Kaydence Roeske contributed 11 and Finley Anfinson added 10 as Paynesville prevailed in five sets to beat Dassel-Cokato at Cokato. Rayna Spanier had 41 set assists. Roeske contributed five ace serves and Grace Roberg had 26 digs for the Bulldogs.

Paynesville next plays at 7 p.m. Tuesday at New London-Spicer.

KMS 3, Litchfield 2 Emily Wagner had 12 kills and Savannah Petersen added 10 in Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg’s victory over Litchfield at Kerkhoven. Scores were 19-25, 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 15-13. The Fighting Saints got 16 set assists from Leah Wagner and 13 more from Ava Noble.

Emilhy Wanger had 24 digs and Abby Holtkamp added 19 more for KMS. Claire Holmgren had 14 kills and15 digs and Grace Holmgren added 22 set assists for Litchfield. KMS next plays at 7 p.

m. Tuesday at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. Litchfield is host to Maple Lake at 7 p.

m. Tuesday. BBE 3, Parkers Prairie 1 Adley Hagen had 13 kills, Kacey Fischer added 12 and Kamie Fischer chipped in with 11 in Belgrade-Brooten’s victory over Parkers Prairie at Brooten.

Kylie Weller had 21 set assists, Hagen had five ace serves and Ava Deters contributed 12 digs for the Jaguars. BBE is scheduled to host MACCRAY at 3 p.m.
