MADISON — The Lac qui Parle Valley volleyball team kicked off postseason play with a victory and a pair of milestones along the way. LQPV, which entered the playoffs as the seventh seed, defeated No. 10 Dawson-Boyd in a Section 3A-North play-in match on Monday.

The Eagles won 25-9, 25-17 and 25-17. LQPV advances to play at second-seeded Canby at 7 p.m.



Friday in Round 2 of the Section 3A playoffs. The Lancers ranked No. 4 in Class A in the final rankings by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association.

Brandi Meyer and Maya Sawatzky both reached career markers for the Eagles. Meyer reached 500 career kills, The senior outside hitter finished with eight kills and recorded team-bests of 15 digs and three ace serves. Sawatzky, an eighth-grade setter, hit 500 career set assists on a 27 set assist night.

Jalyn Lee helped pace LQPV in its sweep. The senior middle hitter knocked down a team-high 15 kills with six digs and one ace block. Section 3A-North LQPV 3, Dawson-Boyd 0 Lakeview 3, YME 0 Eighth-seeded Lakeview knocked off No.

9 Yellow Medicine East in a play-in match at Cottonwood. The Lakers advance to play at top-seeded Minneota at 7 p.m.

Friday. The Vikings are ranked third in Class A. Section 2A BOLD 3, NUC 0 Seventh-seeded BOLD advanced in the Section 2A tournament with a sweep over 10th-seeded New Ulm Cathedral at Olivia.

Zoey Lippert led the Warriors with 14 kills along with seven digs and two ace blocks. Lilly Henriksen added six kills, eight digs and two ace blocks. Layla Pfarr put up 26 set assists in the victory.

BOLD faces second-seeded Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm.

The Mustangs beat No. 18 Mankato Loyola in three sets, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22. MCW 3, ACGC 2 Down 2-0 to Martin County West, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City was able to climb back and force a fifth set.

However, the Mavericks were able to win the fifth set and advance in the Section 2A tournament at Trimont. MCW is the sixth seed. ACGC is the 11th seed.

The win sends the Mavericks to the quarterfinals against No. 3 Cleveland at 6 p.m.

Thursday at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm. The Clippers swept No. 14 Madelia on Monday.

Ruby Klinger finished with 11 kills and 5-1/2 blocks for the Falcons. Kelsie Blom chipped in with seven kills, 13 digs and two ace serves. Section 6A-South Hancock 3, Benson 0 Eighth-seeded Hanock swept ninth-seeded Benson in a play-in match at Hancock.

The Owls play top-seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brooten.

For Benson, Alexis Hoberg had seven kills and Julia Claussen added 21 set assists. Sophie Krusemark chipped in with 16 digs for the Braves. Camden Minneota 3, MACCRAY 1 Minneota locked up the Camden Conference championship with a four-set victory over MACCRAY at Minneota.

The Vikings were the South Division champions and the Wolverines were the North Division champs. Brielle Janssen put up 26 kills for MACCRAY. She also had 12 digs and two ace blocks.

Emma Thein added 14 kills and 18 digs. Mia Post tallied 20 digs. The Wolverines are the third seed in the Section 3A playoffs and host sixth-seeded Central Minnesota Christian School at 7 p.
