Volkswagen Tayron and Skoda Kodiaq 7-seater SUVs are ready to hit the Indian roads in 2025 while the Kylaq-based VW Tera will launch in the second half of next year Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd has plans to launch three new SUVs in the Indian market. Out of the three SUVs slated to go on sale in India in 2025, one will be introduced with the ‘Skoda’ badging while two will have Volkswagen nameplate. Recently, Skoda India had unveiled the all-new Kylaq sub 4-metre SUV in the Indian market and now VW is all set to present a brand spanking new SUV named Tera based on the Kylaq for the domestic market.

In addition, Volkswagen Tayron 7-seater will also debut in the country soon, followed by Skoda Kodiaq 7-seater SUV. Let’s talk about these upcoming Volkswagen-Skoda SUVs in India in detail. 1.

Volkswagen Tera Volkswagen has officially announced the name of its upcoming sub 4-metre SUV based on the Skoda Kylaq. To be christened as VW Tera, it will borrow platform, features and engine from the Kylaq. However, it will be first sold in Brazil and gradually make its way to the Indian shores.

Despite sharing several elements with Skoda Kylaq, Volkswagen Tera will have a distinct identity in terms of styling. The Tera SUV will get multiple premium features in the form of connected car tech, top-notch audio system, drive modes and the latest touchscreen infotainment system. The German automaker could standardise 6-airbags across the entire variant line-up of the Tera.

Under the bonnet, it will have the Kylaq’s 1.0L TSI engine which delivers power output of 115 bhp. We have no information whether a diesel or CNG variant will be in offing.

2. New Skoda Kodiaq Skoda will bring back the Kodiaq 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. The top brass at Skoda India confirmed that test units of the 7-seater SUV have already arrived in the country and an official launch will take place in the summer of 2025.

It has already been spotted multiple times on the roads. The European brand could showcase the India-spec Kodiaq at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January. Recently, the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq was awarded the highest 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP.

It received a score of 89 percent and 83 percent in adult and child protection, respectively. To be sold as a CKD unit, the 7-seater SUV will get a 2.0L TSI petrol engine with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

Skoda Kodiaq will be at loggerheads with MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and Volkswagen Tiguan in India. 3. Volkswagen Tayron Volkswagen Tayron 7-seater SUV will be retailed March 2025 onwards in the Indian market.

It will replace the ageing Tiguan in VW’s portfolio in India. Unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year, the Tayron is bigger in proportions than the Tiguan. It has been equipped with avant-garde features such as ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, 10.

25-inch digital instrument cluster and 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Globally, it is offered with petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. However, the India-bound version of the SUV will only boast of a petrol engine with an automatic transmission.

There is no manual gearbox available with the SUV and we have no clue if a 4WD system will be offered during the launch or arrive at a later stage..
