CHANDIGARH: An audio clip of a purported conversation between Goldy Brar , a key member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and a DSP of Punjab's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Bikram Singh Brar , surfaced on social media Monday in which the former is heard threatening the cop for deploying "informers" against his group. The DSP, a decorated police officer with five gallantry medals and known as an encounter specialist, is heard hitting back at Goldy in the clip of over eight minutes. Bikram dismisses claims of the fugitive Goldy - believed to be in the United States - and asserts that "police acted as per law and would not spare anyone indulging in illegal acts".

Son of a former Punjab police assistant sub-inspector, Satinderjit Singh aka Goldy Brar, faces many charges, including masterminding the May 2022 murder of singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moose Wala. The Union home ministry designated Goldy a terrorist on Jan 1, 2024. Bikram was not available for comment.

But a senior Punjab police officer told TOI that Goldy had called up the DSP "some days ago" and that the audio clip was "leaked" by the gangster and "not from our side". Bikram is heard telling Goldy that he received "several calls" from that number on the preceding night but did not answer since it was an "unknown number", suggesting the gangster made several calls to the officer before the two finally spoke..
