Vir Das is set to make history as the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards. The comedian made the exciting announcement on his social media, following his earlier win at the International Emmys for his stand-up special Vir Das: Landing. In the lead-up to the November event, Das is calling on new and emerging designers to create his outfit for the show.

This isn’t the first time he’s opted for fresh talent over established designers, having done the same for his previous Emmy appearances. On Sunday, Das took to Instagram to share his vision for the outfit, encouraging budding designers to step forward. “Alright folks.



I’m going to be the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards. I’m going to wear something Indian from home. I’m also not going to wear a fancy designer.

They have enough cash and clients. So we’re gonna launch someone new,” he wrote, urging designers to submit their work via email. While the honor is significant, Das remains calm, stating he’s “pretty chill” about the opportunity. “I’ve known about it for a few months. The expectations are high and I’ll celebrate if I get it right.
