Violence erupted during Ganesh idol immersion in Sungadia, Odisha, injuring two persons. The dispute escalated to attacks with machetes, leading to the hospitalisation of the victims at Baripada hospital.

Ganesh idol immersion in Sungadia area turned violent on Wednesday night, leaving two persons injured. The incident occurred when two motorists got into an argument with a person associated with the immersion ceremony. The minor dispute soon escalated leading to attacks with machetes.

Two youths sustained injuries in the clash and were later admitted to Baripada hospital where a crowd from both sides gathered in response to the incident. Chaitan Mukhi, a victim alleged, “We were with the Ganesh idol procession when we got stuck on the road due to a tree, causing a jam. Two motorists from the Kalikapur area wanted to pass by, and we requested them to wait since we were trying to clear the traffic and there were women present with us.



The two persons on the bike were in an intoxicated state and started arguing with us, shoving others in the process. This led to a heated situation, and he even called people from his area, and they attacked me. I want them to be arrested.
