Who among today’s actors does Viola Davis think should carry the torch next? In her interview with Lyn Ching, the award-winning actress was asked which actors she sees as passing the baton to as “the next great runner.” “Oh my goodness. I’m so bad with this, by the way.
‘Cause I never want to single anyone out, but, I mean, lots have it today,” Viola said. Viola started her list by naming young women from “The Woman King,” Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, and Jayme Lawson. She also mentioned Edwina Finley, Danielle Brooks, and Lupita Nyong'o.
“I mean, the list goes on and on. And some that, once again, you don’t know. They’re waiting, you know, in line outside the door, knocking hard with their talent.
And it gives me a lot of hope when I see that,” Viola said. Viola is best known for playing Annalise Keating in the legal drama “How to Get Away with Murder.” She is starring in the upcoming film “G20” as United States President Taylor Sutton, who must defend her family and the world when a G20 summit in Cape Town is taken over by terrorists.
The movie will premiere on April 10 via Prime Video. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News.
